For anyone wanting Matt Lauer off the Today Show I have bad news. NBC execs are standing behind him and say they want him to continue hosting for years to come. So my theory on Carson Daily yesterday has no merrit to it!

CBS renewed 18 shows yesterday, "Two and a Half Men" was not one of them. CBS is discussing another season with the show's production company. Shows renewed were "Survivor," "The Amazing Race," "Elementary," and "The Big Bang Theory." A full list of renewed show can be found here.

Stupid People Doing Stupid Things

Remember the story back in November about the New York cop who saw a barefoot homeless guy in Times Square, and bought him a pair of boots?  Yeah . . . turns out the homeless guy is a con artist.  "New York Post" reporters followed him on Sunday, and found out he has an apartment.  He admitted he just POSES as a homeless guy, and makes hundreds of dollars a day doing it.

What's Up Nationally?

Did you notice a bunch of people on Facebook changed their profile pictures yesterday to a red logo that looks like a "=" and an "8"? If you're wondering, it's about what's happening in the Supreme Court in regards to California's same sex marriage ban and the attempt to over turn it. CNN has the full story here...

Entertainment Trends

Celebs have been Tweeting their opinions on the same-sex marriage case the Supreme Court is deliberating.  For example, Seth Macfarlane said, "Supreme Court, stop acting like cowards.  Now IS the time for a broad ruling to make the leap into the 20th century.  Sincerely, the 21st."  And RICKY MARTIN said, quote, "Supreme Court SCOTUS.  Prop 8.  United for marriage.  Time for marriage.  Love conquers hate.  One dad and one mom is OK.  Two dads is OK.  Two moms is OK."

Ryan Seacrest had Chris Brown on his morning show yesterday and it got pretty deep. He says he learned an important lesson after he beat up Rihanna four years ago, "You can lose it all."  He adds, quote, "I'm not just saying fame or stardom because that's not what it's about.  I'm talking about dignity [and] integrity.  You know, you lose yourself in a way."

Remember the movie "Independence Day?" There are 2 sequels set to be created, "ID Forever Part 1" and "ID Forever Part 2." Bill Pullman will be back, no word on Will Smith.

Stupid People Doing Stupid Things

On Friday, someone called the cops in Iowa to report a man trying to get a teenage girl into his car.  They tracked the guy down, and he explained it was a case of mistaken identity, he thought the girl was his favorite prostitute.  The cops bought his story and were about to let him go, until he told them that he had found that prostitute earlier, and had sex with her.  So he was arrested for prostitution.

For Your Entertainment

Remember when Ann Curry left the Today Show, everyone blamed Matt Lauer? This is all unconfirmed from New York Magazine but a very strong rumor that he almost jumped to ABC last year to co-host on Katie Couric's show. This was about the time there was that strong rumor about Ryan Seacrest replacing Matt, THAT is because they did think Matt was leaving. Why? It's reported that Matt and Ann's personalities were a complete mismatch and that Matt "openly complained about her." Ann got the last laugh though, Today's ratings are down and viewers are not happy with Matt.

I LOVE shows you can only find on Netflix like House of Cards, such a great show! Well Amazon rumored to be creating a show based on Woody Harrelson's movie Zombieland. This will be available on Amazon Prime and Instant Streaming. This is one of a bunch of pilots they're creating, the most popular will get a full show.

Stupid People Doing Stupid Things

Did you see this photo yesterday? It's an infant left inside a car with a note that says, "My mum's in doing the shopping, call her if I need anything" with a cell phone number. The people who snapped the photo waited by the car and called the mom. Police can't do anything since to complaints were actually made.

Around 1:00 A.M. on Sunday, a 27-year-old in Ontario, Canada was arrested for drunk driving.  When he was released a few hours later, he called his 53-year-old mother to come pick him up.  But when she got there, the SAME COP who arrested her son smelled alcohol on her breath, had her take a breathalyzer . . . and arrested HER for drunk driving, too.  They're both due in court next month.

On Saturday afternoon in Utah, a guy set up an elaborate and romantic scavenger hunt for his girlfriend.  The final clue took her to a box with some candy and a note, asking her to a dance.  But she never found it, because someone else saw the box . . . and called the COPS.  Eventually the BOMB SQUAD came in and shut down the entire area, until they found out it was just part of this guy's scavenger hunt.

One of the crazier stories that has been trending since Friday is the story of, MMA fighter, Charles Rowan. His girlfriend told everyone he was killed in an accident on the way to an MMA fight at Streeters but just recently he was busted for robbing a gun store, that's not even the 1/2 of it! This story went national on ESPN and MSN. Read more from 7 and 4 news here about the charity event to raise money for his family...

What's up in Entertainment?

Want to see a new movie this week? Looks like "The Croods" beat out "Olympus Has Fallen." "Admission," with Tina Fey, came in 5th behind "Oz The Great and Powerful" and "The Call."

I think I've blogged about this every day since news broke that Leno will be replaced by Fallon on the Tonight Show, official word from NBC has yet to be released. There was a rumor for a bit that Howard Stern would take over for Fallon on Late Night, NOW the rumor is Seth Meyers from Saturday Night Live will take over - that would be a total 1 2 punch from NBC!

There have been strong rumors about the Black Eyed Peas replacing Fergie, Will.I.Am says that is not true.

Quickie..

Just quickly, a winning $338 Million Powerball Ticket was sold in New Jersey, Denny Hamlin gets airlifted to the hospital after a nasty wreck in yesterday NASCAR race, both U of M and State made it to the Sweet 16 (U of M plays Friday at 7:37 and State plays Friday at 9:45).

Sources are now saying it's unlikely that NBC will dump Jay Leno before his contract is up in September of 2014 because according to his contract they would have to pay him a big penalty if they cut him loose early. I can't believe what I just read, FIFTH GRADERS admit a plot to kill a girl who was "really annoying." The 2 fifth graders were arresed and confessed a plot to kill a female classmate and six others. Now if you're thinking, "they're just kids, that all talk," think again. Police found a handgun, clip and knife in the backpack of one of the boys. Read more about it here...

A major oops yesterday when President Obama's limo had to be towed in Isreal. It broke down on the way to the airport because the driver put gas in the engine instead of diesel. No worries though, they brought a back up vehicle and the President was not on board when it broke down.

Did you see that video of the kid to asked Kate Upton to prom? He might get his wish! He was on the "Today" show yesterday and Kate called in and told him, "I definitely have to check my schedule, but you seem like so much fun and if everything works out, I'd love to go with you.  I know we'd have a blast." Here's the video...

Sounds like Jay Leno stepping away from the Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon taking over might actually happen and sources say by Fall of 2014. The New York Times says there's no deal yet but NBC made a commitment to Fallon and the show would move from Burbank to New York City.

In theaters this weekend, "Olympus has Fallen," the White House gets captured by terrorists, the President is taken hostage and Gerard Butler is the only secret service agent left who can fight the terrorists. Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman are also in this, here's the trailer.

For the family, "The Croods" is an animated Dreamworks movie about a family of prehistoric cavemen looking for a new home after the cave is destroyed.

"Admission," Tina Fey plays a Princeton admissions officer who bends the rules for an applicant who may be the son she secretly gave up for adoption.  Paul Rudd plays Tina's love interest, and Lily Tomlin is in it as her mom.

Katy Perry and John Mayer have broken up for the second time, sources say it's a work issue.

The first man to accuse Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of taking advantage of him when he was underage is now suing.  He originally reached a settlement and issued a statement saying their relationship was consensual, and nothing happened when he was underage.  But he later TOOK IT BACK, and supposedly the settlement money was never paid.  Hence the lawsuit.

Harrison Ford is the one guy you'd expect to TORPEDO a reunion of the original cast in "Star Wars 7", so this is kind of a big deal: During a recent interview, Harrison pretty much confirmed it's happening.  He said, quote, "I think it's almost true, I'm looking forward to it.  It's not in the bag yet, but I think it's happening."

The cast of the Office filmed their final show and shortly after Rainn Wilson, Dwight, scanned an image of the original audition sheet and it's pretty cool to see WHO have played WHAT on that show: Rainn auditioned to play Michael Scott, in addition to Dwight Schrute, the role he ended up getting.  It was the first day of casting, and he was the first person they saw.  This was on November 6th of 2003. It also shows that Adam Scott, who now plays Ben Wyatt on "Parks and Recreation," auditioned to play Jim.  Melissa McCarthy's husband Ben Falcone was also up for the role of Michael.  You may remember him as the air marshal in "Bridesmaids". Steve Carell isn't on this list, so apparently they didn't see him on the first day.

If you're into old sitcom reunions there's going to be a small Home Improvement reunion with Tim Allen and Johnathon Taylor Thomas on "Last Man Standing" this Friday on 29 and 8. Here's video!

Lindsay Lohan copped a plea yesterday on charges that she lied to police after wrecking a Porsche last summer.  She'll spend 90 days in a lockdown rehab facility.  She'll also do 30 days of community service and undergo 18 months of psychotherapy.

There was a funny moment in the court room where Lindsay got annoyed with her attorney and told him that she would kill him when he didn't stay quiet, TMZ caught it.

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn both admitted that they are a couple yesterday on Facebook.

Selena Gomez told David Letterman last night that she made Justin Bieber cry. Dave actually started it.  He told Selena that the last time Beiber was on his show, he made him cry.  And Selena replied, quote, "Well then, that makes two of us."  And then she and Dave FIST-BUMPED. Here's the video...

The creators of History's "Bible" miniseries are denying speculation that they intentionally made Satan resemble PRESIDENT OBAMA.  Meanwhile, the History Channel released this statement:  Quote, "[We have] the highest respect for President Obama.  It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection." See the picture here...

Remember that guy who crossed NIAGARA FALLS on a tightrope last year?  He's announced his next stunt.  On Sunday, June 23rd, he's going to cross the GRAND CANYON on a tightrope.  And unlike the Niagara Falls stunt, this time, he WON'T be wearing a safety harness.  The stunt will be broadcast live on Discovery Channel.

The other big story this morning is very sad out of Pennsylvania where a bus crash has left two people dead including the pregnant coach of the Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team. The bus driver also passed. Read more from CNN here.

TMZ claims LIL WAYNE was on the BRINK OF DEATH last week, when doctors placed him in a medically-induced coma after he suffered "multiple seizures." It sounds like Wayne may have OD'd but there's no official word on what's wrong with him. Despite TMZ's grim report, Wayne Tweeted that he's "good" . . . and one of his friends is denying that he was put in a coma.

Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough have ended things. Sources say it has more to do with Ryan working all the time.

Those hackers who caused chaos among celebs in Hollywood and Washington, D.C. by posting their confidential information like Social Security numbers and credit reports have called it quits. The website is gone, but before it disappeared, they posted a message saying, quote, "We have enjoyed every minute of the past 12 days of providing entertainment and laughs to all of you, sadly it's time to say bon voyage."

"Oz The Great And Powerful" was #1 at the box office again this weekend. "The Call" with Halle Berry was 2nd followed by "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" with Steve Carell and Jim Carrey. If you're sad about The Office going away and not ever seeing Dwight again, we have good news! Rainn Wilson, the guy who plays Dwight, will be staring in a new TV show on CBS called "Backstorm" next fall. They say his roll will be an "overweight, offensive detective who tries, and fails, to change his self-destructive behavior."

Did you see Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon's History of Rap part 4? Check it out!

One more for you, some jerk starts messing with a street performer (who BTW looks like Ron Swanson) anyway he gets punched.

How would you handle it if you were working the front desk at your hotel and the Pope stopped by to pick up his luggage? I love this story! Work Day 3 into Day Light Saving time - closer to feeling normal? LOL Here's what's up today....

If you're following the conclave you'll know that black smoke came out of the chimney yesterday, signaling that a new pope has not been elected. They go on to day 2 today.

Oh no! Judge Judy is getting sued! She's being accused of paying around $50,000 to purchase about $500,000 worth of china and flatware from her producer, even though she knew his divorcing wife had equal ownership of the property. Here's what Judge Judy had to say, "I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don't owe this lady a cent...and if this 50-year-old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, instead of abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits, we would all be a lot better off," BAM!

Michelle Obama, Al Gore and Sarah Palin join the list of big names that have had their personal information leaked on the internet. President Obama spoke a bit about this, "We should not be surprised that if you've got hackers that want to dig in and devote a lot of resources, that they can access this information." You have to wonder what the next step is after this, seems to be an eye opener for our own security.

Hopefully you didn't pay $30 for one of the LAST REMAINING TWINKIES on eBay.  Because that panic over the death of Twinkies was TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. The private equity firm that paid $410 million to buy Hostess's brands has announced they'll have Twinkies back in stores by this summer.  Maybe you'll actually buy them this time, so the brand doesn't die again?

I've always said I got into radio because people expect WAY too much out of TV people. A TV reporter in Detroit is accused of having a bit too much drunken fun. MLive has the full story here.

While we're downstate check this out, in Taylor a 6th grader brought $20,000 to school and started handing it out! Jackpot! More again from MLive here...

Hello! Daylight Saving Time still messing with you? Yeah me too, but you look good so everything is alright - here's what's up today...

This is not much of a surprise but your Facebook "likes" pretty much tell your story and what you're made up of. Don't believe me? Check out THIS link, sign in with your Facebook and it will give you your personality breakdown based on what you clicked like on. Mine was dead on!

Since Ann Curry was booted from the Today Show matt Lauer has been painted as the reason. He finally speaks out about it. Critics say it's to make him look like the "golden boy" but we never know, this could be legit. Read what he had to say here.

A website posted some pretty serious and personal info about Hillary Clinton, VP Joe Biden, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian. How serious? Social Security numbers and credit card info! FBI is investigating but if they can get hacked what about us?

Justin Timberlake has a new album coming out next week. It's called "the 20/20 Experience," you can hear it streaming here through iTunes.

Okay, this is funny: There's a one-eyed 54-year-old Egyptian terrorist currently in U.S. federal prison, who has a hook for a hand . . . but the guards have found it too dangerous.  So they're replacing his hook with . . . a SPORK.  His lawyer says that's actually what he WANTS . . . because with the hook he finds it hard to eat.

And Good People Doing Good Things: On Sunday, a 12-year-old boy was swimming off the coast of New Zealand when he got hit by several big waves, and was in danger of being washed out to sea.  He fought for eight minutes and was pulled 500 feet away . . . but people on the beach formed a HUMAN CHAIN more than 13 people long, and managed to bring him back to shore.

And something for the ladies. How about Liam Hemsworth?

Some world news headlines trending in brief and worth "Googling:" Papal Conclave is set for tomorrow and North Korea is making some pretty big threats towards the U.S. (let's hope we don't have to go to war.)

I'm bringing up Saturday Night Live again because they totally stole the entertainment headlines this week. Justin Timberlake hosted with guest appearances by Steve Martin, Dan Aykroyd, Martin Short, Alec Baldwin, Chevy Chase and Jay Z. If you get a chance to watch it on Hulu today I highly suggest it!

Is Justin Bieber having a bit of a breakdown? He just announced he is cancelling his show in Portugal. Not sure if it's related but this happened outside of his hotel in London. (Content warning: this is raw video with explicit language.) Click here to view video (NOT SAFE FOR WORK).

Speaking of "teen heart throbs" - Harry Styles from One Direction got a new tattoo...

And whenever we take a poll for KHQ's Facebook Hunk of the Day everyone votes for Shemar Moore, so photogs captured some new shots for you...

And then there is this, which is nothing short of amazing! On vacation there's a step aerobics class going on next to a resort's pool. So, why not join in! This guy joins in with a speedo and puts everyone to shame!

Friday Morning Trends 3/8/13

Did you hear about that huge ice island that is floating in the lake in Emmet County? Very cool story from Nathan Edwards at 7 and 4 news here...

The student editor at Central's school paper speaks out about that Grinding article being blown way out of proportion. He mentions in the article that radio stations failed to report that the 2 people in the photo were actually one, we are happy to report KHQ opened the phones for students to voice their thoughts and we did end up getting the truth on the air. Personally, I'm impressed they were able to get that much attention. Read more from the Ticker here...

The Co-Pilot from that "Miracle on the Hudson" plane landing is going to be in TC as part of "Evening With Aviators" next week. Find out more here...

Big trend in Michigan right now is Carl Levin not seeking re-election in 2014. More from Mlive here...

I think Chris Brown needs some time with Jack Nicholson's character in "Anger Management." He went off again on someone, this time it was over $10 as he got into a valet attendent's face. Read the full story here.

Here's video, there is some explicit language.

Who wouldn't want anger management classes with this guy?

Justin Bieber was hospitalized after fainting backstage at a concert in London. He is resting well in the hospital and Instragraming really awkward pics.

The Wolf Pack is back!!! Hang Over 3 is set for this Summer, here's the trailer.

I'm posting this very random survey for anyone who might think they are "behind" in life:  According to a survey of more than 17,500 brides, the average wedding costs $28,427.  That's $1,406 more than last year.  And there are 139 guests . . . four or five bridesmaids . . . and the same number of groomsmen.  The bride is 29 . . . the groom is 31 . . . and they've been engaged for 14 months. So, I've got another year before I fall behind!

This video will make you smile, and yes she drops the F-bomb at the end so be prepared.

Thursday Morning Trends 3/7/13

Remember that image we posted yesterday from TC Central's school paper "Black and Gold?" It was from their satire page and brought out a ton of complaining from parents because they thought the "Grinding: A Guide for future Reference" story was crossing the line. The TC Ticker dug into this and I personally want to give Central's principal and TCAP's superintendent major props for having their student's back! They did admit that it crossed the line but the cool thing is the two are not flipping out. The principal at my school use to flip out when we would post anything like this in our paper. Read more from the Ticker here...

Speaking of school, here's a quiz: Define a Filibuster? Think you got it right? Instead of defining I'll give you an example. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky stalled the Senate yesterday by talking for 13 hours! He spoke about the governement using lethal drones and this forced the Senate to delay the confirmation of John Brennan to lead the CIA. Don't ya love the system?

There's a very strong rumor that Jay Leno is about to retire and Jimmy Fallon from NBC's Late Night will step up to replace him on the tonight show. IF Jay actually steps aside there's a rumor that Howard Stern could be the guy to replace Jimmy Fallon. The only part I do not like about this is that the Late Night spot usually goes to a younger talent, it would be nice to see a new face but I wouldn't be totally heart broken if Stern got it.

It's definitely one of the hazards of stealing someone else's identity. Brianna Priddy's wallet was stolen in February. Two weeks later, the woman now accused of nabbing it tried to use Priddy's driver license to prove she was over 21. Only problem? The waitress handling the alleged thief's drinks order at a Lakewood, Colorado, Applebee's was Brianna Priddy. Priddy recognized her own license immediately, so she called the cops and waited for them to show up — all while serving the woman and her cohorts. "'Dumb criminal' — that's the first [phrase] that comes to mind," said a police spokesperson. Especially since police say the suspect is 26 and didn't need a fake ID to order a margarita. More here.

Hmmm, we wonder what this is. Russell Crowe caught it on camera..

Wednesday Morning Trends 3/6/13

The Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians voted Sunday 5-4 to recognize same sex marriage, according to 7 and 4 news the decision goes to the tribal chairman to sign or veto it. More from 7 and 4 news here.

Demolition on Hotel Indigo is set to start on the 11th. The TC Ticker has more here...

I will warn you, this story is really sick and offers way more detail than what was orginally reported on the news, so I will not get into the details here.  Do you remember the story awhile back out of Suttons Bay where a man was charged in the death of an infant? Well Mlive reported yesterday that the man is going to serve 2 life sentences. If you want more detail on what happened, again, it made me sick, but you can read the story at the Mlive site here...

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is playing today at the State for their 25 Cent Classic Matinee at 11am. Great movie!

Jon Stewart is taking a 12 week leave from "The Daily Show" this summer to direct a movie. John Oliver will host while he's out.

Taylor Swift defended herself in "Vanity Fair" saying that she has only dated 2 people since 2010. She also outed Harry Styles as a dog who couldn't stop staring at other girls. What about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler ripping her at the Golden Globes? She quoted Katie Couric regarding that saying, "there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."

Here's Tina and Amy...

Yesterday, there was a story going around about a guy in a Batman costume who caught a wanted robber in England, and took him to the police station.  Well . . . he's been unmasked.  Turns out Batman is really a 39-year-old Chinese food delivery driver.  And the robber was actually a friend, who found out he was wanted and thought it would be funny for "Batman" to turn him in.

File this under AWESOME catch phrases! On Saturday, around 11:00 P.M., a woman named Angelica was working at a Dunkin' Donuts in West Haven, Connecticut.  A man tried to climb through the drive-thru window to rob the place.  Angelica tried to shut the drive thru window on him, but he kept his arm inside.  So she grabbed the only weapon she had . . . HOT COFFEE.  And she THREW it on him. As she scalded him with hot coffee and he backed off, she yelled, quote, "Go run on Dunkin'!"  Which is a pretty brilliant improvised twist on the official Dunkin' Donuts slogan, "America runs on Dunkin'." Police are still looking for the guy.

Trends for Tuesday 3/5/13

Here's what everyone is talking about today...

Big trending national story this morning is about that winter storm that is set to hit the midwest, for the first time this season, we will miss it.

7 and 4 news  had a great story yesterday about 2 Traverse City sisters selling scarves to help their mother battle breast cancer, read more about it here...

You heard about that sink hole in Florida right? Well they tore the house down and now you can actually see it. The man who fell in has not been found, the search called off and the hole is being filled. The brother of the victim says he wishes they would have tried harder to find him. Read more about this story here...

Don't get too attached to that new show "Zero Hour," as I have, because after 3 episodes it's being cancelled.

Did you hear who is joining the cast of Anchorman 2? Harrison Ford! Ford played an anchorman in the movie "Morning Glory" a few years back - he was great in that roll.

This is really cool. A very nervous interviewer from the BBC interviews Mila Kunis and she calms him down in a very cool way. Props to her!

What would you do if you walked into a murder in progress (in this case it's fake) but the people don't know it and their reactions are pretty interesting...

How about more goats creeping you out and yelling like humans?

Monday Morning Trends 3/4/13

I say this is enough to call it a trend: It's supposed to be sunny all week, welcome back sun!

Remember our lesson on the federal sequester last week? Well now it's affecting the Blue Angels, they've had to cancel some of their shows. Nothing has been said about their 2014 show in TC yet, so we'll keep our fingers crossed! The Ticker has more here...

7 and 4 News has been sold to another company, no word on what that means. In unrelated news Melissa Smith announced last week that her final broadcast will be this Friday. She is taking a job in Iowa. See our good bye to her at the video...

How is this for good news? A baby born with HIV has been cured. Welcome to 2013! Read more about it here...

I'm not sure what to think of this. A nurse at a senior home facility calls 911 because an 87 year old resident needed help. The 911 operator pleads with the woman to start CPR but the nurse says it is against policy. Sadley, the 87 year old patient died and now questions are being asked as to why that is a policy. We will have audio posted a bit later on with the podcast. Read the full story here...

Such a sad story but crazy. Last Thursday at man in Tampa was swallowed by a sink hole under his bedroom. The sinkhole ended up more than 30 feet wide, about 20 feet deep, and swallowed more than half the house.  Sadly, the man is presumed dead, they have not found him. More here...

Dennis Rodman has returned from his bizarre and unprecedented trip to North Korea.  He calls dictator Kim Jong Un a "great guy" who does NOT want war with the United States, but just wants PRESIDENT OBAMA to call him.  And Rodman knows what they can talk about.  He says, quote, "[Kim] loves basketball.  And I said, 'Obama loves basketball.'  Let's start there."

Here we go again:  "Two high-level industry sources" tell the "Hollywood Reporter" that NBC is "moving forward" with a plan to give "The Tonight Show" to Jimmy Fallon when Jay Leno's contract is up next year.  Supposedly, they'll announce it in May.  But for now, NBC is denying it, and Leno's rep won't comment.

Rejoice! MARKY MARK AND THE FUNKY BUNCH have been dormant for the past 20 years, but that could change!  Mark Wahlberg says, quote, "The Funky Bunch wants to get back out there.  I've just got to find the right time.  We might, though."

On Friday, a doctor's office in Pennsylvania called a high school student to confirm his appointment.  And the kid had the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme as his voicemail.  The employee misheard the lyric "shootin' some b-ball outside of the school" and thought it said "shooting up the school."  She called 911, the school DISTRICT went into LOCKDOWN, and the kid was detained three hours while cops sorted it out.

That's what is trending from the weekend...

Here's What's Trending for Friday 3/1/13

Great story out of the Straights. A crew member on a tug just off of Mackinac Island needed to get to family because his mother had just passed away. Problem was, the tug was too far from shore in the ice. So the Mackinac Island Fire Deptartment headed out on the ice to get him. Details from 7 and 4 news here...

Speaking of 7 and 4 news, their news staff and our staff have become pretty close over the past couple years and we heard yesterday that Melissa Smith is leaving 7 and 4's morning show. We're sad she won't be on our studio TV any more but we are very happy for her! Her final day is next Friday.

It's expected that the Governor (sorry Walking Dead reference) will be announcing whether or not Detroit gets an emergency manger today. Who knows, maybe it will turn out like the TV show Parks and Recreation? Is there a Leslie Knope of Detroit? Do I watch too much TV? Here's the full story from MLive...

So what's up with Bieber? By the way, today is his birthday.

Ready to feel old? How about a list of things you'll have to explain to your kids:

#1.)  Smoking and non-smoking sections in restaurants.

#2.)  Why we used to buy maps, and how they were so hard to re-fold.

#3.)  Taking a photo and not getting to see how it came out instantly.

#4.)  Dialing star-69.

#5.)  Taping a song off the radio so you could hear it whenever you want.

#6.)  How the only way to get song lyrics was to hope the band or artist printed them inside the tape or CD liner notes.

#7.)  How you used to have your friends' phone numbers MEMORIZED . . . and why you used to have to talk to their parents sometimes when you called them.

Most of us have hit a deer with our car. What about with your bike?

Holy cow! This movie is coming out this summer and it looks crazy creepy!
