Monday Morning Trends 3/4/13

I say this is enough to call it a trend: It's supposed to be sunny all week, welcome back sun!

Remember our lesson on the federal sequester last week? Well now it's affecting the Blue Angels, they've had to cancel some of their shows. Nothing has been said about their 2014 show in TC yet, so we'll keep our fingers crossed! The Ticker has more here...

7 and 4 News has been sold to another company, no word on what that means. In unrelated news Melissa Smith announced last week that her final broadcast will be this Friday. She is taking a job in Iowa. See our good bye to her at the video...

How is this for good news? A baby born with HIV has been cured. Welcome to 2013! Read more about it here...

I'm not sure what to think of this. A nurse at a senior home facility calls 911 because an 87 year old resident needed help. The 911 operator pleads with the woman to start CPR but the nurse says it is against policy. Sadley, the 87 year old patient died and now questions are being asked as to why that is a policy. We will have audio posted a bit later on with the podcast. Read the full story here...

Such a sad story but crazy. Last Thursday at man in Tampa was swallowed by a sink hole under his bedroom. The sinkhole ended up more than 30 feet wide, about 20 feet deep, and swallowed more than half the house.  Sadly, the man is presumed dead, they have not found him. More here...

Dennis Rodman has returned from his bizarre and unprecedented trip to North Korea.  He calls dictator Kim Jong Un a "great guy" who does NOT want war with the United States, but just wants PRESIDENT OBAMA to call him.  And Rodman knows what they can talk about.  He says, quote, "[Kim] loves basketball.  And I said, 'Obama loves basketball.'  Let's start there."

Here we go again:  "Two high-level industry sources" tell the "Hollywood Reporter" that NBC is "moving forward" with a plan to give "The Tonight Show" to Jimmy Fallon when Jay Leno's contract is up next year.  Supposedly, they'll announce it in May.  But for now, NBC is denying it, and Leno's rep won't comment.

Rejoice! MARKY MARK AND THE FUNKY BUNCH have been dormant for the past 20 years, but that could change!  Mark Wahlberg says, quote, "The Funky Bunch wants to get back out there.  I've just got to find the right time.  We might, though."

On Friday, a doctor's office in Pennsylvania called a high school student to confirm his appointment.  And the kid had the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme as his voicemail.  The employee misheard the lyric "shootin' some b-ball outside of the school" and thought it said "shooting up the school."  She called 911, the school DISTRICT went into LOCKDOWN, and the kid was detained three hours while cops sorted it out.

That's what is trending from the weekend...
