Survivors Ceremony / Lap: Saturday, Noon
During the Survivors Lap, upbeat music plays as all cancer survivors at the event take the first lap, cheered on by the other participants who line the track, celebrating their victory over cancer. Cancer suvivors are the guests of honor at Relay, sign up today to be part of our event! A luncheon will be provided to honor all our survivors and their caregivers directly following the ceremony. Please pre-register so we can get an accurate head count for the luncheon.
Caregivers Lap: Directly following the Survivor Lap
During the Caregivers Lap, anyone who has cared for someone with cancer walks so they can be honored for their support. Caregivers walk this lap with the people they helped if they are also present at the event.
Sponsor Ceremony: Saturday, 2:00pm
The sponsor ceremony gives us the opportunity to thank the many generous companies and organizations that have made the Grand Traverse County Relay For Life possible! We recognize those businesses and individuals who have made the commitment to Dream Big. Hope Big. Relay Big!
Fight Back Ceremony: Saturday, 5:00pm
The Fight Back Ceremony symbolizes the emotional commitment we each make to the fight against cancer. The action we take represents what we are willing to do for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for our community to fight cancer yearround and to commit to saving lives.
Luminaria Ceremony: Saturday, 9:30pm
The Luminaria Ceremony is a time to remember people we have lost to cancer, to support people who are currently battling the disease, and to honor those who have won their battle. The power of this ceremony lies in providing an opportunity for people to work through grief and find hope.
Closing Ceremony: Sunday, 9:00am
The Closing Ceremony is a time to remember the lives of those lost and to celebrate that each of us has committed, through our participation in a Relay event, to fight back against this disease over the next year.
