Around Northern Michigan
Remember fire drills in school? I think that was the only kind of drill we ever had, I grew up in Ohio so tornado drills were common too. It's just so surreal to hear that schools have to do “intruder drills” now. It's just one of the many new security measures that TCAPS has put into place. Check out the full story from The TC Ticker here...
We're going just a bit south on this one. We told you last week that GVSU had to remove the huge ball sculpture because students were swinging on it naked, like Miley Cyrus in her video for “Wrecking Ball.” Well, the school has put a committee together to determine when and how to reinstall the ball. Let's face it, we don't care. I just wanted a reason to post this video from one of the GVSU students.
What's Up in Entertainment
Sources are telling us that Richard Gere and actress Carey Lowell are getting divorced after 11 years. That's a lifetime in Hollywood years!
A&E has canceled “Hoarders.”
O.J. Simpson just pulled off the most evil deed he's ever done. He stole cookies. “The National Enquirer” says he was caught stealing oatmeal cookies from the prison cafeteria. A guard noticed a bulge and started digging cookies out of his shirt while he stood there with a “goofy grin.” Omnomnomnom.
You know “Breaking Bad” is making some serious buzz this week and this story amplifies it. Part of last week's episode was inspired by a 16 year old fan of the show, who passed away earlier this year of cancer. Before he died, Kevin Cordasco, got to meet some of the cast and the creator, Vince Gilligan. Cordasco said he wanted to know more about Gretchen and Elliot and more about Walt's back story with them, and Gilligan delivered last week. For those of you who didn't see it, we won't explain any further, but you can find the full story and pics here.
Holy smokes! There's going to be a TV show based around Battle Creek, Michigan and the creator of “Breaking Bad,” Vince Gilligan, is part of it!! Gilligan will work with “House” creator David Shore on the police drama called “Battle Creek.” It will be centered around two detectives, one cynical and one naive, who team up to “clean up the semi-mean streets” of Battle Creek. This will debut on CBS for the 2014 – 2015 season.
